Currently IN Australia, you can qualify as an Arborist at 6 levels.
If you hold any of theses 6 level certificates you can proclaim you are an arborist. So you could be barely out of school and almost incapable of wielding a chainsaw and yet still call yourself an Arborist if you have the basic level certificate. Good, experienced tree climbers generally are qualified to certificate 3 or 4 and those who come under the grandfathers of the industry clause, will, or should hold a certificate 5 showing they have adequate skills and knowledge covering the day to day hands on activities as well as management, employment, report writing, consulting and supervision of trainees.
Check your contractors Qualifications and compare apples to apples. Do you really want a fresh out of school "Arborist" dismantling the tree over your house or giving you advice on the safety of trees that may have an impact on your family.
If you require an arborist, that is what you will get if you engage perfectoutdoors, all employees are arborists at varying levels and all crews will have a diploma level Arborist supervising other levels.
